MGA invited me to help out with Toy Wishes, the event for reporters to come see what to expect for the holidays. It was great to see my MGA friends, and it was like Christmas morning in a huge family (I assume! LOL) assembling all kinds of cute toys and setting up nice displays. Watching the big pretty booth go from an empty space to the great display was impressive.

I came back for a tiny bit the second day but had to leave due to an art job crisis LOL, what can ya' do. It was fun with many hours spent with good friends fun toys and a great display for the Bratz and MGA again!

Seriously surreal month- sometimes me and the pets are bored! LOL Not this time :) This month I had Fashion Week prep and Toy Fair and my job test- any ONE of which would have been a lot to have in a few weeks but they all happened AT THE SAME TIME !! :)

Bratz Toy Fair 2007 Report!

Sorry its like a zombie wrote it but I really wanted to get this to you guys. Was also nice seeing all the MGAr's again, will see my friends later this week too so any clarifications ask before wednesday and I will ask- and the design people always say how they love Bratz World ideas and things so keep sending them in and posting them here. They gave me the Sweetheart dolls Yasmin Lilee and Phoebe so if anyone wants pix later ask me which ones you want. I also got a Pixiez CD and a few things might be added to the Hair Style Prizes,,,, Also a cute alarm Bratz clock.. oh boy I have to get back to prep for my job test review. I have a "report" from Fashion Week too but haven't had time to put it together yet- you guys are top priority and sorry it took so long! :)

Since many stories we read in the news try to present the Bratz as something all parents hate or should be hating, I want to show people that its not true and from the sales numbers there have to be a lot of parents buying the Bratz. These are questions for "Bratz Moms and Dads" to answer, people who have kids and buy Bratz for their kids and in many cases, themselves. So these answers are from a parent's perspective. (Since there is enough hate out there this is for people who don't hate the Bratz so if you do, please use your time for something else :) ).

The biggest problem some people seem to have with the Bratz are how they are dressed. Hookers, streetwalkers and strippers and worse, are some of the terms some writers have used.
What do you think of the Bratz fashions?
How would you describe what they look like?
How do you think they compare with other doll's fashions?
How do you think these fashions will affect your kids self image now and in the future?
Also feel free to mention your personal favorite lines and looks.

Another issue people have with the Bratz is their supposed attitude. They are accused of being, among other things, rich-acting, self absorbed shopaholics with nothing better to do with their time than chase girls and boys around for dates and hang out gossiping. These characters are supposed to depict teens and teens do like to have fun but in the various storylines surrounding the Bratz there are many more things in which they are involved.
What do you think the Bratz represent as far as goals and interests?
Is their image damaging to your kid's developing attitude about life?

The make-up. These are dolls with an animated colorful appearance and a lot of color and detail in the facial features.
What do you like about these faces?
Do you think seeing a face with all these colors on it makes a girl or boy want to wear make-up?
And if they want to wear make-up do you see this as particularly harmful or personal/ creative expression?
If you think playing with the dolls bring on a request for purchasing make-up what is your reaction?

There are many ways people share with their families and collecting is one way some do things together. Common interests are a great thing to share with your kids.
Do you collect Bratz too?
How do you decide who gets what dolls?
Do you have ways you play together or share in Bratz collecting like shopping together or making up home areas for the Bratz or re-dressing and mixing fashions and styling the hair for example?

Why don't you see the Bratz as the downfall of mankind the way others seem to see them?
How come the Bratz are not "corrupting" your child/children?

The Wendy Froud sculpting class doll I made :)

I took Wendy Froud's doll sculpting class again this year for my birthday (Thanks Rick!!!!!!! You are the best :) ) I took her class last year and it was two day session this time it was three days and was great to have that extra time (It started on my birthday!). Just taking the class is great but to be taught by one of the world's best artists and a founder of the genre of creature sculpting started in Dark Crystal (and she made Yoda too) is just wonderful.

Here is the doll I made this time. I made her clothing too. She/they are better looking in person, my camera is on its last legs its literally held together with tape so the pix are not great :p Its a lavender and pink sheen to their skin with some slight metallic sparkle and the clothing has those colors in it. The gown is a pillow top I made from sewing together bits and pieces of textiles and brocades and I never made the pillow and I like it being used like this better. Her boots are painted the lav/pinkish colors and mottled to look opalescent. The hair is so wonderful, Wendy brought this and its a blonde soft wool with curl and a beautiful almost irridescent pink fade to pale lavendar too it so it works so well with the skin tone. The skin and features color are acrylic paints blended like a wash and dabbed off as I went along so it built up over in layers on the sculpy. The vest part is leather scrap and the design I burned in with a sodering iron. The blouse is an old silk scarf I got in a vintage store, her "tights" are a German ribbon wrapped around the legs. The whole doll is a wire skeleton wrapped in paper tape and then covered in sculpy and quilt batting. She is fully posable. She is sturdy and heavy but I love that- she is about 17inches tall. I keep calling the doll she but really she is a they :)

I kept the one face's eyes closed because the process Wendy teaches to create the eyes has one stage where they look closed and this one's face looked so pretty with closed eyes that I decided to keep her eyes closed. So you can say one side deals with the things in the daylit real world and the other moves in the dark ethereal world.

I am so happy with her I want a better camera now just to get some "beauty" shots of her/them. This is seriously one of the best b-days of my life and if I had gotten this doll as a gift from someone I would have freaked out from joy, an even better feeling that I made her/they myself! I am so happy! Still more celebrating to come and I think I'll bring the doll along.. still have not named them.. something will come Wendy says they'll always tell you what they want to be called you just have to wait and see.

Edit: This is so cool, Art Conspiracy has already made the doll its "Staff Pick" for the Physical Galleries on their cover page. ~yay~ :)

This is a custom Tiny Kitty I bought from a PP member a couple of years ago and I had a lot of fun making pictures with her and just recently looked at all of them again, some of these I have actually never posted anywhere before! I had a lot of fun.. I love this dolly. I am a Bratz fan but she is a great doll. She is dressed mainly in Bratz Boyz and Jan McLean Lollipop fashions. If I had more space and $$ I think I would buy more of these gals, wish I could get this one custom up on ebay right now.. Oh well :)

Beware of a new scam that seems to be just starting, its just like those Nigerian (and other countries) Bank scams

except now they are targeting animal lovers claiming they are from some shelter system in a former Russian country.

The name the person gives is Bolotina Valeria but check the details of the email if you get this and you see the name attached to the email address is Gordon Gadi, and the email service, inodes.org. is based in Australia , BUT the IP is routed from Argentina and possibly Mexico too.

They must be very new because this is just a simple check anyone can do, eventually they will probably cover their tracks better. If they really were from a shelter system just send the email from the shelter or at least from the region of the world they claim to come from and how about not routing your scam address through a third country. So just warning don't fall for this stuff they target caring people on purpose who they hope will become rightfully angry over poor conditions for animals and not even stop to think they are going to be ripped off or worse in some way in some way. Even if they don't tell you to come to another country they could empty your bank account and you can't do anything about it because to help them with this in the first place is considered illegal. You may get a sorry this happened from the government but you will never see your money again.

I had this urge to use the hi-res Yasmin picture to get a portrait style picture just some fun pretty colored assemblage, sunrise and blue summer skies mixed with diamonds!

What a day, I had to take my birdy to the vet today she had an impacted egg.. she had to stay all day, they did all kinds of things then she got a stitch in her birdy buns and they told me she was a very stately well-behaved bird and I was like- since when? My bird is a Bratz no, a Brat Bird :) She's actually really cute but can get an "attitude". She gets medicine everyday for five days and goes back to get the stitch out in 3 days. They say she'll be fine. She's just happy to be back in her own basket.

Dionne Quan, a fiercely imaginative 27-year-old, best known for her role as
cowboy-booted, spunky Kimi Finster, on the Emmy-award-winning Rugrats,
as well as Yasmin in the animated series BRATZ, is also an AFB
CareerConnect® mentor! Below she recalls acting out characters aloud from
storybooks as a kid and describes a typical day at work.

Although born almost entirely blind, a crystal-clear image of myself as an
actress led me undaunted down a career path beginning in childhood. I
would do different voices for all the characters in any story. I just love the
freedom that acting and in particular voice-over gives me. Kimi is edgy and a
bit of a tomboy. She's also fearless and very confident and I like that!

With the help and encouragement of my parents, I enrolled in acting classes
at age 10. (By the way, speaking of parents, I play Trixie Tang on
Nickelodeon's hit series The Fairly Odd Parents.) There was really no
courage involved, at least on my part. It was just fun because I love singing
and acting. My passion for hard work and performance was validated when I
received the Shining Star Award from American Women in Radio and
Television. Another gratifying role I've enjoyed was the opportunity to star in
the Nickelodeon spin-off series All Grown Up featuring the Rugrats' teen
years, and appearing in the Nickelodeon/Paramount Pictures movie release
Rugrats Go Wild!

Although I originally envisioned a career in musical theater and trod the
boards with chorus roles for a couple of years, the obstacles were obvious. It
didn't work well because, although it really was never a problem for me,
people were worried about me walking around the stage. Also, in community
theater, I was always cast as somebody blind, Asian, or blind and Asian!

The solution to realizing my dream seemed apparent when my dad happened
to tune in to a radio talk show featuring a local voice-over instructor. He
promptly enrolled me in the instructor's class, and there I found my niche. My
first paying job was a national radio spot for an HMO at age 14 and various
commercial voice-overs followed, along with many other opportunities.

In my line of work, not only do I get to create unique voices and in many ways
unique characters, I'm able to passionately enliven fellow cast members by
my ability to portray such characters from an almost innocent place. Actually,
most don't even realize I'm non-sighted. About the only implication is an
adjustment to my microphone so it doesn't pick up the sound of my fingers
moving across the braille script. My hope is to give people around the world
inspiration through my imagination and God-given talent.

Now that you know what I do and how I got into this line of work, let me tell
you what a typical work day is like. My driver and I begin the day by going to
morning voice-over auditions at my voice-over agency in order to keep the
day open for any voice-over jobs that may come in at the last minute or
scheduled jobs already set for the day. Once those auditions are recorded I
am off to my first session. Each day varies greatly as this kind of career is
never set to a 9-5 time frame.

If it is an animated series voice-over session, the script is brought to life by
all
the cast members in the recording studio. Cue lines and my lines are
translated into braille the night before. Some animation sessions are
scheduled to read each voice-over talent separately (or "wild" as it is called)
and some like to schedule the entire cast together for a more natural flow to
the script. An animation session can take about 3-4 hours per half-hour show,
which can be around 30 pages of dialogue give or take. The voice-over
director lets the cast know if their lines need to have a different inflection,
pace, etc., and I take that interpretation and deliver the lines accordingly
until
the director believes he or she has the perfect take. In most cases, the voice-
over work is done first so the animation can be drawn around the voice
sessions. Often times, the voice-over talent's work and personality inspire the
animators to breathe a lot more life into their characters' movement.

If I am booked for a TV or radio commercial voice-over session, the time
allotted is one and a half to two hours (if not less) per commercial spot. The
commercial voice-over jobs are usually much quicker to complete than an
animated session due to a commercial spot being 60 seconds in length at the
most, in comparison to the complexities of a half-hour animated show.

Once I have completed my last session for the day, I check in with my voice-
over agency (or vice versa) to find out how my schedule for the next day is
shaping up audition and/or session-wise. Just remember this type of career is
very up and down. It is about working hard all day one day and perhaps not
working or auditioning at all the next. But, to me, the love of the work is very

much worth the wait!

Mattel to Pay Former Executive $5.43 Mln in Severance

Mattel Inc. agreed to pay the former head of the Barbie business $5.43 million to leave the company after sales for the doll fell sharply during his tenure.

Matthew Bousquette, who ran the Barbie and Hot Wheels lines, is receiving three times his annual salary and a $750,000-a-year job as a consultant to Mattel, the company said in a regulatory filing today.

Barbie sales dropped for two straight years under Bousquette as the brand struggled to compete with more popular dolls such as Bratz. In October, Mattel, the world’s largest toymaker, folded Bousquette’s division into its Fisher-Price unit.
Bousquette, who had been with Mattel for 17 years, will also receive health-care benefits for another two years or until he finds another job, the El Segundo, California-based company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He also held options on about 2 million Mattel shares as of Dec. 15, which may be exercised through March, according to the filing.

Shares of Mattel rose 1 cent to $16.01 at 12:17 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. They are headed for their first annual decline in six years and have fallen 18 percent in 2005.
Mattel spokeswoman Lisa Marie Bongiovanni didn’t immediately return a call requesting comment.

Bratz Dolls

Mattel’s third-quarter profit dropped 12 percent after sales of Barbie, introduced in 1959, plunged 18 percent as girls seek multicultural Bratz dolls that wear edgier fashions and have names such as Jade and Yasmin.
Chief Executive Officer Robert Eckert hasn’t been able to reverse the decline with fantasy-themed Fairytopia dolls for younger girls and an animated movie on DVD featuring the voice of actress Lindsay Lohan as part of its My Scene line for teens.

Profit has fallen in four of the past seven quarters, and Mattel reported a second-period loss. Fourth-quarter and annual net income is expected to drop, according to analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial.
Sales of Bratz dolls and related licensed merchandise this holiday season picked up relative to Barbie sales, based on discussions with 40 Wal-Mart Stores Inc. toy department managers and industry sources, JPMorgan Chase & Co. analyst Dean Gianoukos wrote in a Dec. 20 report. Gianoukos, who is based in New York, rates Mattel "neutral."
Overall U.S. toy sales are likely headed for their third consecutive annual drop as children put aside action figures and board games in favor of video games and other electronic gadgets. Toy sales will likely fall at least two per cent this year, Piper Jaffray & Co. analyst Anthony Gikas wrote in a Dec. 8 report. Gikas, based in Minneapolis, rates Mattel "market perform."

Longer version of this was posted a few days ago on Bratz World Yahoo so I finally have some time to get these up here. I was invited to go visit MGA at the Toy Wishes Show and it was better than any recent x-mas I could remember they gave me so many wonderful things and said such wonderful stuff about everybody on Bratz World and how they appreciate all the wonderful Bratz art and stories and things we do. When they introduced me to other toy people they said they wish they had a Bratz WOrld for their company LOL It was very cute. So I really wish it wasn't so busy I have so many cool picture ideas. Glad I don't have to look for weeks for some of these htings too since NYC is "the Greatest City In The World" but you can't always find the Bratz you want :)

Walton Remembered for Education Efforts

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Wal-Mart heir John T. Walton, who died in the crash of his experimental, ultralight aircraft, was remembered as a friendly man who threw his considerable financial support behind efforts to educate low-income children.

Walton, of Jackson, Wyo., crashed shortly after takeoff Monday from Jackson Hole Airport in Grand Teton National Park, the company said. The cause of the crash was not known and park rangers planned an investigation, officials said. Walton was 58.

"I think all you can say is he was just a good man and today, you grieve," Jay Allen, Wal-Mart senior vice president of corporate affairs, told The Morning News of Springdale.

Walton, the middle of three sons of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton and a member of the company's board, was a major advocate of school vouchers, supporting efforts to create taxpayer-funded ways for students to attend private schools.

Walton founded the Children's Scholarship Fund in 1998 to provide low-income families with money to send their children to private schools. The foundation started with $67 million from the Walton Family Foundation and benefited more than 67,000 children.

In March, Forbes magazine listed John Walton as No. 11 on its list of the world's richest people with a net worth of $18.2 billion. He was tied with his younger brother, Jim, one spot behind his older brother, Rob, who is Wal-Mart chairman, and just ahead of his sister, Alice, and his mother, Helen. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is the world's largest retailer.

"I certainly have nothing negative to say about the man at all. He was a prince," said Walton's former wife, Washington County Circuit Judge Mary Ann Gunn. "He loved to build things. He loved motorcycles. He built his own motorcycle."

The plane he died flying was an experimental ultralight aircraft with a small, gasoline-powered engine and wings wrapped in fabric similar to heavy-duty sail cloth, officials said.

Joan Anzelmo, a spokeswoman for Grand Teton National Park, said Walton, "well-known and much-loved in this valley, died doing something that he loved to do." Rangers will investigate the crash, as is done with any major accident in the park, she said.

The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched an investigator from the Denver regional office to monitor developments at the scene, officials said.

At this point there's no decision to launch a full-fledged investigation, NTSB spokesman Paul Schlamm said Tuesday. Ultralights are generally outside NTSB's jurisdiction.

Michael Collins, a flight instructor with Jackson Hole Aviation, said the wings were intact, and the tail broke from the rest of the plane but remained intact.

Walton appeared to have died on impact, but an autopsy was planned to determine whether any health factors might have played a role in the crash, Teton County coroner Bob Campbell said.

Jim Courtovich, who spent two years getting the Children's Scholarship Fund off the ground, said Walton was a devoted sponsor who "didn't just donate money, he donated time and energy." Walton would clear days at a time from his schedule to focus on the project, he said.

Courtovich also said that Walton had a casual manner and, like his father, not above doing chores himself. One time, skiing in Jackson Hole, he said Walton "had to leave early because he had to caulk his chimney."

John Walton was a major stockholder in Wal-Mart, with about 12 million shares of the company's stock. He also shared ownership of about 1.7 billion shares with his family in a joint partnership called Walton Enterprises LLC. Walton joined the board of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in 1992 and served on its on the Strategic Planning and Finance Committee.

John Walton was an Army veteran who served with the Green Berets as a medic during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Silver Star for saving the lives of several members of his unit while under enemy fire, according to the company.

He attended the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, and served as a board member of the Walton Family Foundation, which played a key role in fund-raising in the University of Arkansas' recent Campaign for the 21st Century. The Walton family made a $300 million gift to the campaign in 2002.

Besides his mother and siblings, Walton is survived by his wife, Christy, and son, Luke.

Resident teams with PEZ to produce Madagascar dispensers

BRANFORD - PEZ Candy Inc. is a company of global proportions. According to PEZ.com, the candy's moniker was derived from the German word for peppermint more than 70 years ago and today, PEZ Candy and Dispensers are sold in 60 countries throughout the world.
The confectionary giant also has strong local ties.

Amy Graver, Branford resident and president of Elements, LLC, an award-winning graphic design firm in New Haven, recently designed PEZ dispenser packaging for Dreamworks' computer animation film Madagascar, which opens this weekend.
"It's exciting because we've gotten a lot of buzz about it with the movie coming out," Graver said.

The movie's main characters are Central Park Zoo animals that include a lion, voiced by Ben Stiller, and a zebra, voiced by Chris Rock. It was up to Graver to decide how these and other characters were presented on the dispenser packaging while ensuring that they adhered to a strict set of licensor requirements.

For about a year and a half, she has been facing similar challenges through designing everything from packaging to counter display boxes to promotional materials for PEZ.

"It's challenging for us, we do a lot of work with PEZ on licensed products such as Mickey Mouse, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hello Kitty, BRATZ, so its always a challenge because it comes with restrictions from different licensers that we have to pass our designs through to get approval," Graver said.

While designing logos, annual brochures, websites, promotional banners and tee-shirts for PEZ and other corporation, Graver works towards keeping Elements "creative, exciting and different."

"We like being very diverse, we don't want to see ourselves specializing in any one thing," she said. "I think that one of the reasons Elements is such a creative firm is because in any given day we can work on something very corporate, something very artistic to something completely different."

As a young child, Graver took private art lessons and later attended the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven while a student at Branford High School. After graduating in 1986, she worked toward a degree in journalism at Northeastern University and then worked as a photojournalist for the Boston Globe. It was through her work as a photographer when she, "got interested in how my images could be used artistically to tell a story and communicate, so that's how I got into it."

In 1999, she began her work in graphic design and founded Elements in Hampton, Conn. Although she does not have a degree in the field, establishing the firm was "a natural step" due to her longtime involvement in the arts.

The company began to prosper and, in 2003, she and her support staff moved to their present New Haven location. Today, with clients like PEZ and Dreamworks, Graver has experienced a great deal of success. Overall, she is content not only professionally but personally as well while living in Branford with her husband Scott and 11-month-old son Cole.

"I like where my firm is now, I like being in New Haven, because a lot of my clients are here and I love living in Branford, raising a family, I have a small baby and my husband and I love Branford," Graver said.

I got to see the Bratz Game in action today- pretty cool! (first posted on BW Yahoo)

This was pretty darn cool! Its going to be hard to have to wait for October when its due out but its a GREAT game. I got to hang out with the cool folks of THQ today and for about an hour we talked about the game and it was demonstrated and played and I even made a suggestion for it and they were like "great idea!" so we'll see if it shows up! Yes its still being added to and tweaked and they said the developers always add in special stuff no one knows about until its out. Remember too that contest in the UK someone gets to record their voice for use in the game and meet the designers. I don't think that happened yet because the voices I heard used were not all the final ones but they mentioned that they were hearing familar ones with the voices they knew were going to be used so some were done or close to it.

Since we had all wondered who that lady was- the older lady we have seen in screen shots is named Miss Pink, the mean owner of the magazine "Pink" (what else!) that Jade gets fired from. There are also two meanies called the Twievils (or is it Twevils?? LOL) Two evil mean teen Twins that look like Miss Pink (blonde hair in buns) that are hired at the same mag and get Jade fired. One you will see always has a band-aid on her nose since she always gets plastic surgery LOL. They are not characters you can use in the game but they'll be there and will talk to you when you encounter them.

Thats the same story with the Boyz- they are not characters for play but will be around and will interact with you when you approach them. There will not be any Petz (that they know of) but there was a cute squirrel I saw! He was boinging around this park area with a fountain and trees and stuff. I didn't see other creatures but who knows as you go along plus who knows what might be added!

The characters are not un-named Bratz you create tho, they are the four main girls, Sasha, Cloe Yasmin and Jade with Jade being the somewhat lead girl since the story revolves around her.. So she gets fired and they throw her a party to comfort her and decide to start their own magazine with their own ideas and creations and split up the responsibilites. Along the way they also start their band and will take off to London. So you will be going along with them as they do the tasks that need to be done to get their magazine launched and the stuff to be done for it- plus as you go along there is also band stuff to do.. its pretty cool you begin to feel like you really are getting a lot of cool stuff accomplished. I know there was a mention of the band being undercover for something but its not that way now (who knows what may have been discussed at some point and then changed as you can see lots we thought was going to be the game has changed like the characters being ones you make up) .

Of course always available is shopping and collecting your personal tokens and bling thats lying about and thats your money for all your STUFF you want. You will be spending and earning too as you accomplish tasks and shopping in the mall. You will love how even tho its the four main Bratz you will have your girl looking like no one else's guaranteed because of all your make-up, accessories and fashions and shoes.. Your character will stay that way for the whole game unless you change her. Things are in themes like the Bratz use and the one thats really obvious here is the Treasures look and theme. But you can mix and match pieces from other themes as you go along to higher levels. The make-up is even in themes and of course when I saw the "Midnight Dance" make-up theme I said "Oh lets go there!" but it was locked because some stuff you only get access to when you have accomplished certain tasks.

Of course the ultimate level and reward is the band and flying off to adventure. The sound track was the Bratz CD and they were not sure yet if it would have tracks on it not on the CD but who knows! At that time you could access almost every song since every song on the CD will be in the game.

Some of the things done that I watched were making your own t-shirt designs that the Bratz could then wear, making posters for the band that you could put up around town (yes some smaller tasks can be done/played around with pretty early on after they get their magazine office set up). It was so cute- they have clips from the DVD in there. We were joking about the office set-up because you see them painting and climbing ladders in this wrecky looking space (a rat runs by! :) ) and then the DVD clips roll and pretty quickly its this amazing space with computers and huge posters of the Bratz its really great looking so its like- um where did That money come from? Allowance and Bratz-dadz and momz most likely LOL It was cute, hey its supposed to be fun. No one wants to see them on packing boxes in a shack right? There are a few questions I asked that they are getting the answers for so I'lll let you know all that cool stuff when I know it.

Its so cool that they were all real Bratz fans one of them his daughter collects Bratz too and spoke very knowingly about hiding the Bratz you want in shelves in store so you can come back for it! We talked about how cool you guys were on Bratz World and all the amazing creative stuff you do like the custom work and re-rooting and Joseph's foot modifications! The THQ people have done a great job- their designs of the mall and the Bratz rooms and the offices and shops (even sky and trees and just things you pass by) are really great. You'll want to move in! Its also made where even if you just want to hang around doing different fashions and make-up you can.

There are little challenges that pop up that are very much like something from America's next Top Model- the one I saw was a posing challenge that you had to memorize the ones you did and then do them again when its called out as fast as you can. You earn Bling for that too. Its also just so much fun to watch. We did do some joking in the game about- "Okay so she can't pull out a machine gun right now right?" and once when Cloe was stuck at a door we were laughing "Karate kick it open!" They don't do those things but in the posing challenge they can kick and move really well so hmmmm I wonder.. *wink*

When I left there I was pretty happy with what I saw and know you guys are going to love the game. LOL they gave me a bag with Champagne and a cigar and a very awesome looking bottle opener that looks like something out of Star Wars. THQ likes to hang with a major party crowd so their gifts matched ! I saw bits and stuff from all of their games but it was pretty cool we were in a big room with a large screen TV and it was just all about the Bratz! THQ rocks!

I am going to give the handmade cigar to my sweetie's dad and maybe we'lll crack open that champagne later. You'll love the game! But all of the songs embrace the philosophy of the Bratz brand: self-expression, staying true to one's self, having self-confidence, believing in girl empowerment, and having a passion for living life.

Music will also accompany the dolls at retail, with a mini-disc/CD-ROM featuring each character's solo song plus an edit of "So Good" to be included with each doll sold. Other products set to be issued are video games by THQ in October.

A new drink recipe featuring Absolut Apeach, the newest member of the Absolut vodka family.

40 ml Absolut Apeach
60 ml pineapple juice
60 ml cranberry juice
egg white or frothee

Shake well with ice in a cocktail shaker.
Strain into a cocktail glass and decorate with a maraschino cherry

My scanner had been jammed and then last night my brattiest boy cat threw it onto the ground from my art table (he is the only one who seems to know how to fling heavy objects..) and now its FIXED! I can't tell him thanks because he can't go around throwing stuff but he did get pets and a kiss for "no reason"... anyway :)

This is my doll

He will be using those silks for his clothing but they will become even more shredded and his stitching under on his body still needs to be done but you can see what he looks like and it won't change that much. I have never done this before which shows you what a great teacher Wendy is. I am really happy with him and look forward to making more in all kinds of ways and looks

Reward for Jessica now $115,000

Somebody's got to know something.
That's what five recent, major contributors to a Jessica Marie Lunsford reward fund set up to help solve the missing girl's case are banking on.

The reward fund began with a $25,000 pledge by Atlanta Braves pitcher and longtime Homosassa resident, Mike Hampton, and his wife, Kautia. It has since grown to $115,000, sheriff's officials said.

Homosassa resident and CEO of internet-based employment resource StaffMD, Jeff Sisk, and his wife, Salina, made one of the five major contributions to the fund Feb 26.

"It's not a lot of money, but we felt like helping out," Sisk said.
Sisk said he and his wife raise children of their own and live in Sugarmill Woods, just a mile away from Jessica's Sonata Avenue home, where the 9-year-old was last seen.

"It hit home for all of us," Sisk said. "It breaks your heart."
The money pledged by the Sisks is for information leading to the location and safe return of Jessica.

Joining the Sisks and Hamptons are three other major contributors: the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, MGA Entertainment and VIDEO professor.

Jessica's grandfather, Archie Lunsford, is a longtime Teamster. MGA Entertainment produces the fashionable Bratz dolls — favorites of Jessica's.

Based in Lakewood, Colo., VIDEO Professor has been a leader in comprehensive, self-paced computer software tutorials for more than 18 years.

Citrus County Sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney said the reward fund is one of the many tools involved in the investigation to help return Jessica to her family.
Jessica is 4 feet 10 inches tall, 70 pounds with light brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink silk nightgown and white silk shorts.

Anyone with information about the missing persons case or Jessica's whereabouts should call the Citrus County Sheriff's Office at 726-1121 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at (800) 843-5678.

Of course it was amazing to see the new lines, all those beautiful dolls.

And seeing my friends again who I wished lived on the East Coast!

Barbie, Bratz to compete with movies, tunes

Barbie and the Bratz dolls are already bitter rivals in the toy aisle. Now they're about to duke it out on the entertainment industry's red carpet.
At next week's International Toy Fair in New York, Mattel Inc. and closely held MGA Entertainment Inc. will introduce a rush of new products that cast their respective doll characters as rock stars or Hollywood actresses. Both toy companies are intent on using music, movies and DVDs to broaden their franchises into bona fide entertainment platforms.
Mattel will introduce a new animated direct-to-video movie called "My Scene Goes to Hollywood," an attempt to cast Barbie and her friends in an 8-10-year-old version of "Friends." The gang will hang out in a coffeehouse, shop, and swoon over post-Ken-era guys with names like "Ryan Ridley." MGA will counter with new Bratz dolls and an album under the name of the "Bratz Rock Angelz," in which five of the big-headed, high-heel wearing Bratz form a rock band and set off on a world tour.
The moves represent a shift in the toy industry as companies look for ways to create sustained interested in their key kids' brands against the backdrop of a broader slump. According to market research firm NPD Funworld, sales for the traditional toy industry fell 3 percent in 2004, to $20.1 billion from $20.7 billion the year earlier
Brand extensions, from clothes to songs, used to play second fiddle to the toys themselves. But now, such derivatives are seen as core to an overall franchise. The two companies in this case have different motives: Mattel is trying to resuscitate interest in Barbie, which has fallen off in recent years, while MGA is looking to extend the success it has enjoyed with the upstart Bratz. Young girls are a "hard demographic to please," says MGA chief executive Isaac Larian. "You can't just sell toys, you have to sell a whole lifestyle."
Mattel Brands President Matt Bousquette sees entertainment as part of the company's strategy to give new relevance to its buxom Barbie, whose world-wide sales slipped by roughly 8 percent last year; U.S. sales of the icon declined 15 percent. "How you experience the brand has to be more than just the doll," he says, ticking off fashion, music and other entertainment as key areas for girls. "We want to be everywhere the girl is."
That may not be easy. Popular comic book, film and TV characters for kids inevitably spin off into toys, but it's less often that traditional toys transition the other way, particularly for girls' toys. Going "upstream," as analysts call it, is difficult because the market for entertainment is usually geared toward an audience that has outgrown toys. The payoff for toymakers is that kids who are too old for dolls or other toys may still want to watch videos or play games based on the characters.
Mattel launched Barbie Entertainment five years ago with a "Nutcracker" direct-to-video. Since then, the company says its four releases have together sold more than 10 million units, and analysts estimate that the videos have become a $200 million business for the toymaker. Mattel's My Scene video is the toymaker's latest attempt at capturing the coveted tween market of girls 8 to 11.
In August, Walt Disney Co.'s Miramax Home Entertainment and Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release "My Scene Goes to Hollywood," meant to bolster interest among girls who normally might be casting Barbie aside. In the story, Barbie and company win parts in a Lindsay Lohan movie, culminating in the girls attending the teen idol's film's premiere in Los Angeles. Many of the affiliated toys that Mattel will try to sell, including doll outfits, dressing room playsets and a dark-purple limousine, are taken straight from the video.
Mattel is also adding to its line of Barbie animated movies aimed at younger girls, with two other direct-to-videos, "Fairytopia" and "Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus," distributed by Lions Gate Home Entertainment.
To further tap into the pop culture zeitgeist, Mattel is launching a new line of "American Idol" Barbie dolls that play snippets of original music and come with a microphone that records sound. It's part of a partnership Mattel entered into with FremantleMedia North America Inc. and 19 TV Limited, which together produce the television show. Real-life American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino plans to offer performing advice to Barbie fans at an event today.
Barbie's modern appeal has even been fodder for "Saturday Night Live." During a recent skit, Maya Rudolph, posing as a Bratz, spars with Paris Hilton, who plays a "Fashion Fever" Barbie.
In real life, the new Barbie lines will indeed find tough competition form the scrappy Bratz. Along with traditional dolls and playsets, MGA is releasing the full-length "Bratz Rock Angelz" music album through Universal Music Enterprises, a division of Vivendi Universal SA's Universal Music Group. Separately, the main Bratz gang will get their own animated theatrical release and a direct-to-video series, which will be released through News Corp.'s Twentieth Century Fox and Fox Home Entertainment. A TV show is also in the works.
Executives at the Fox movie studio see a built-in audience waiting to be tapped. "We're interested in anything that has an audience, and Bratz has a franchise (that's) growing," says Mike Dunn, president of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, which will distribute the second Bratz movie later this year.
To launch "Bratz Rock Angelz," MGA and Universal will in July release a single from its music album, a month before the toys - which include a private jet, recording studio and concert stage playsets - hit stores. Universal Music Enterprises President Bruce Resnikoff says that several hit-making Swedish songwriters behind pop groups like N 'Sync and Backstreet Boys are working on the original music.
Mr. Resnikoff says the album, which he describes as a "rich teen pop sound," is a way for Universal to tap into a new niche. "The music is intended to appeal to the Bratz fan, but the potential audience is wider," he says. MGA, and along with Fox and Universal, will spend about $50 million to promote Bratz Rock Angelz. The toy company says that represents its most expensive marketing and advertising effort.
Both companies, meanwhile, are also pursuing parallel strategies with their boy brands. Mattel has created "AcceleRacers," four one-hour Cartoon Network specials based on its Hot Wheels toys that will compete with a television series based on MGA's Alien Racers toys. Cartoon Network's Web site will feature 16 AcceleRacer "webisodes" and gaming Web site Shockwave.com will run a game based on the toys called "BattleX" in a bid to grab older boys.
