People have been posting defending the Secret Date line and I posted this review under SD Yasmin's listing on amazon.com:
"Stop blaming toys, January 1, 2005
Reviewer: Bratzworld.TV "snowflakebebe" (New York City!) - See all my reviews
The only point negative bashing of a toy is going to make is how people will blame everything but themselves for problems they think kids will or do have. If a girl becomes a hooker its not the dolls she owned it was her rotten upbringing and life experience. If a girl starves herself its not the silent toys in the toybox it was the teasing or abuse from others and family and the lack of control she felt over her life. If your daughters have questions about sex or boys or dating and no one answers them because they want them to remain little girls forever- that won't stop them from finding out from someone else. If you one day find out they know things you don't want them to know- it wasn't the doll, it was you refusing to live in reality. You'll find if some of these people were in some fantasy realm able to force this doll off the market the same old things would happen and they would dig around for some other toy to blame rather than look at what they may have done wrong or things they could have improved. Good fortune has put us in the USA and thankfully just because a group who want to blame dolls because they want scapegoats wants the dolls off the shelves it won't happen. Don't try to force people to only have available what you want them to have. So in every single way you have failed here and have managed to give this line a lot of free publicity and now they will sell better than ever. bratzworld tv "
And then under SD Nevra is this review :)
Bratz bashing&banning = answer to our society's problems?, January 2, 2005
Reviewer: MsM "~just when you thought things couldn't get worse ~" (Low Lands) - See all my reviews Please consider the question above for a moment. And think hard before answering it. There is an EXCELLENT piece written by Bratzworld on one of the other Secret Doll pages. I think that one said it all. It's silly to keep a doll's influence responsible for the events in the life of a human being.
And then again, it's YOUR OWN interpretation. Apparently a lot of people that commented on these pages don't think Bratz are immitating "whores". What matters is what your KID will associate the doll with. If you are THAT afraid of Bratz dolls, all I can assume is your 6 year old already KNOWS and UNDERSTANDS what a "hooker" is and what she does for living. And knows and understands what adults do or may do on a date.
Am I wrong? Then please, what are you people afraid of? There is also a review written by a kid. Maybe you should all pay a little more attention to what she has to say. The concept of a special night out isn't new. It's in many G rated movies and animations. It's your own responsibility and task to teach your child about this world. The way people are warning against them makes me wonder if Bratz' influences are stronger then those of parents? If that is really the case, then who of all parties is responsible for the mess in the real world? I think I made my point.
I don't know who that is, and its a great review too - thats pretty cool huh? Its great how many people are posting good reviews for the SD line!
